IURC Chair Jim Atterholt Announces Retirement

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I wanted to give you a heads up before I formally announce later today that after thirty years, I am going to retire from public service. My bride of thirty-one years, Brenda, has an opportunity to transfer her job to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and we are looking forward to life at a slower pace.

I am so very grateful to Governor Holcomb for the opportunity to serve in his administration as Chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. My gratitude also extends to the good people of House District 86 who provided me the privilege to serve them as their State Representative for two terms. I would certainly be remiss if I didn’t thank Governors Pence and Daniels, as well as Congressman Burton, for the opportunities they provided me to serve.

There have been so many people who have helped me and demonstrated kindness towards me along the way that I am hesitant to list them all for fear of leaving someone out. Please know that I will always be grateful. Having long believed that public service is a calling, these past thirty years have been a true blessing. My last day with the State will be Friday, January 12, 2018.

God Bless,

James D. Atterholt
